Food Security & NRM
Food security and nutrition are fundamental for a healthy life and as required growth of disadvantaged population of a nation, especially in developing countries. In Afghanistan, a war-torn and war-affected country, the burden of malnutrition remains a colossal challenge. In fact, there are several vulnerable groups who are deprived of and have limited access to growing nutrient rich foods.
Keeping these aforementioned factors into consideration, HEALTHO works to strengthen and enhance nutrition programs at national, local and community levels. HEALTHO helps partners design and implement food security and nutrition programs in some of the country’s most challenging environments. These programs thematically focus on prevention and curative strategies to help vulnerable groups including, but not limited to, adolescents, pregnant women and children. The programs help these vulnerable groups in growing and accessing nutrient rich foods and diversifying their diets.
